Ballwin Teen Ties for Golf Tourney Top Spot
A shortened tournament in northern Illinois hosted by the American Junior Golf Association led to a first-place medal for Ballwin's Zach Gollwitzer, World Golf.com reports.
An incoming senior from Ballwin tied for first place at the Preseason Junior golf competition at Prairie Landing golf course in West Chicago, IL this weekend following a shortened tournament due to inclement weather.
Gollwitzer, who will be a senior next year at Marquette High School, said he was happy with the result and impressed with the tournament as a whole.
"This was a great weekend," Gollwitzer told World Golf.com. "Being my first AJGA event, I couldn't have asked for anything better. I've never been in a tournament that was this well run."
Gollwitzer finished the tournament at two strokes under par with a score of 70 after the first leg, which featured 66 male and female golfers ages 12 through 18 from the United States, Canada and South Korea.
