A woman from the Ballwin area and her three daughters were found dead at a campsite in Crawford County this weekend in what law enforcement are calling a murder-suicide.

Christine Adewunmi, 37, and daughters Lauren, 8, Samantha, 6 and Kate, 3, were located Saturday, Crawford County Sheriff Randy E. Martin said in a written statement. The four family members were found at Blue Springs Ranch & Resort in Bourbon, MO, located about 1 hour southwest of Ballwin in Crawford County. The resort provides various recreational activities along the Meramec River.

Husband and father Leonard Adewunmi told St. Louis County Police on Friday that his wife and daughters were missing when he arrived home from work that day. The family resided on Arbor Bluff Circle, located about a half-mile southeast of Ballwin's city limits.

Sheriff Martin reportedly told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Monday that his department and the Missouri Highway Patrol were confident Christine Adewunmi fired handgun shots that killed her daughters, then fatally shot herself.

The Post-Dispatch also reported that Christine Adewunmi graduated from Kirkwood High School with the maiden name Pannett, and worked as a phys ed teacher at Parkway North High School from 1998 to 2006.

A spokesperson for the Parkway School District said the children attended Oak Brook Elementary School and that the school principal sent out a letter to families alerting them of the deaths. A representative for the Catholic Archdiocese of Saint Louis said Christine and her three daughters were members of the St. Joseph parish in Manchester. The church is located just south of Manchester Road off Sulphur Spring Road. The Archdiocese spokesperson also said the children were involved in the St. Joseph Athletic Association.

A profile on the online résumé database LinkedIn said Leonard Adewunmi works as a real estate professional.
