Ballwin Woman Wins State Amateur Tourney

Catherine Dolan of Ballwin won the MWGA Women's Amateur Championship on Thursday.

The good vibes keep coming for Missouri State's Catherine Dolan, an incoming senior from Ballwin who finished first place in the MWGA Women’s Amateur Championship on Thursday.

The leading golfer made a comeback after falling behind earlier in the week's tournament at the Bellerive Country Club, only to eventually walk away with an overall two-stroke victory.

After finishing her first two rounds both at one-under par, Dolan later beat out Kayla Eckelkamp, despite Eckelkamp's impressive 67 strokes in the final round.

Although Dolan initially trailed defending champion Ellen Port by three strokes, she gained control early to get as many as 3 strokes under on the last day Thursday, while Port ballooned to a final round of 78 strokes.

Dolan shot 77-71-71—219 for the 54-hole championship, two strokes below Eckelkamp and four strokes below Port.
