The Missouri delegation had bacon and eggs served with a side of disappointment Tuesday at the Democratic National Convention.

Due to increased security and some pretty intense checkpoints along the way to the hotel, the featured speaker Donna Brazile, Democratic National Committee vice chair, was unable to make make it to speak at the meeting. Instead, Democrats heard from state and local leaders.

State Treasurer Clint Zweifel and Secretary of State Robin Carnahan addressed the crowd, along with other mayors and members of the delegation.

But in the crowd Tom and LaDonna Appelbaum of St. Louis listened intently. The first-time convention attendees are hoping to pick up as much information to take home to Missouri.

Issues that the Applebaums are particularly interested in include small business, women's issues and how to keep pushing in this election year. See more in the attached video.

Can someone please tell me why every time I get this newsletter , I have michell obama's face staring at me asking if I am in? I can see what side of the board this newsletter falls on. I think both parties should be represented and am tired of one party being shoved down our throats. We should all get a dose of frustration when we open the newsletter.

Patch is advertiser supported, so what you're seeing is campaign advertising. There has been other advertising on the site from Republicans, including the Republican Governor's Association, if I'm not mistaken. From an editorial standpoint, it is important to note that Patch is non-partisan, and that we invite comments from all points of view.

Maybe Patch should consider declining political advertising. It would make for a better product.

I tend to agree with David Caldwell.
