A burglary in progress was reported to the Ellisville Police Department around 10 p.m. Tuesday at a residence in the 800 block of JB Hunt Court. A resident reportedly heard a loud bang, then called police. After arriving, officers discovered the home's rear garage door had been kicked in and its door frame broken off. Police said a purse was lying on the ground that previously had been on the front seat of an unlocked vehicle parked in the home's garage. Approximately $30 was stolen from the purse. Police said the suspect or suspects left the home before law enforcement arrived.
