@caf: I am in district 1 (Dawn Anglin's spot, right?)
Could you tell me about Mr Voss?

Mr. Voss is a long-time business owner in Ellisville, who operates the West County Lanes. He has also publicly spoken out against irresponsible use of tax diversion (TIFs).

Here's an interview with him on the subject:

Pro-TIF. Expect more of the same if Turner is elected in Dist. 1
Look at his P&Z voting record.

Bryanna, are there any plans for Patch to provide a forum for residents to ask questions of the candidates before the election?

Yes! I'm planning on contacting the candidates once filing is officially closed this week. For now, any questions that could be asked across the board?

Thanks, Bryanna.

A few questions come to mind for candidates for city council:

1) With the current rate of economic recovery, do you feel it may be necessary to offer tax incentives to large corporations to lure them to open retail in Ellisville?

2) Do you feel Ellisville should participate in the St. Louis TIF Commission? If so, what do you see are the benefits of having a cohesive regional approach to TIF? If not, why?

3) Do you believe the members of the council should vote on controversial issues according to the wishes of their constituents at all times, or do you see possibilities where your vote will necessarily go against popular opinion?

4) How would you describe the ideal ratio between commercial interests and liveability in Ellisville? Do you see an inherent conflict between big box stores and surrounding neighborhoods? What do you see as Ellisville's role in the Great Streets Initiative?

5) What are your goals with regard to residential taxes for services?

6) Why are you running for city council?

Now that filing has closed, I would really like to learn more about each candidate. The questions above from "Caffeinated" are good, but would also like to know more about them as individuals, as well.

Thank you!

I'd like to know each of the candidates thoughts on their predecessors' actions, within the last 45 days of their terms in office, to prohibit from them any opportunity to work with the duly elected Mayor Paul, for the next two years (the remainder of his term)?
