The Spartans combined their height advantage with sharpshooting from the perimeter, will face conference rival CBC Friday.
The Hot Read: The De Smet Jesuit Spartans (21-6) used a dizzying display of outside marksmanship Tuesday to defeat Parkway West (12-14) 69-40 in a Class 5 district semifinal at Parkway Central High School.
Senior guard Jimmy Barton, a candidate for Creve Coeur Patch MVP this week hit for 5 threes on the evening en route to 17 points on the night. Dean led West with 10 points.
Quotable I, Jimmy Barton "Gotta play hard no matter who the team is. It's my last chance to go to state so...it's my last time here, it's my last time playing high school, so you don't want to lose."
Quotable II: John Wright, Parkway Head Coach "Certainly it's not set up the best for a team to have to turn around in less than 24 hours and play one of the top seeds, but it is what it is. I don't know in the final analysis with this game that that was the difference maker,"
What's Next: De Smet Jesuit will get a third crack at conference rival CBC, which broke out in the second half Tuesday to defeat Parkway Central in the other district semifinal.
