Anyone survey his district on how the residents want him to vote?

Had the mayor listened to the city attorney, explaining that they were required to pass the plat plan through, there would have been no reason to have a special meeting. This vote is administrative only, a yes vote is required. So delaying it served zero purpose.

A surface level thinker may perceive this as ‘zero purpose’. To clarify, below are five reasons as to why I felt the need to object to a second reading for both items. I hope this explains my reasoning and that you understand that I always take a methodical approach when making these types of decisions.

1) The public comment from one of the owners of 3 apartment buildings stated she had concern regarding her property lines being erased without Sansone having taken ownership yet.

2) If you recall, the moratorium bill was incorrectly listed as an emergency ordinance. I felt it was necessary to delay on the side of caution to ensure that the City can correct the Bill (if need be) to protect us from future legal problems questioning the legitimacy of the ordinance.

3) The public should have time to review all bills before final passage. Both of the public hearings and bills were on the agenda the same day. To have both reading/final passage right after the public hearings could be perceived by the public that the City trying to cover up something. Technically the City is allowed to do this but when the audience was polled, the large majority of the residents opposed to both the moratorium and the plot/subdivision consolidation. This at the very least allows the public time to review and digest (even if it is only for two days since Councilmember Pieper felt the need to call for a special meeting).

4) I was trying to buy the City more time because when I asked if the dioxin tests were completed as promised, the answer was no and that it was scheduled for later this month. This reason is now irrelevant because Councilmember Pieper immediately called for a Special Meeting tonight.

5) Regarding the moratorium bill, the City Attorney also stated that since this is already legislation in progress, having it delayed until the next meeting would be a non-issue and the City would be protected until the next vote

I remember Paul running an anti-walmart and TIF campaign. He won by a ton on that one issue alone. What you should be saying is thank you for not switching your promise like Pirrello did for years and thank you for fighting the project to the end. mike k, anyone who reads your comments thinks you are an _____. You talk about racing your SS on the weekend again and the next mayor election Paul vs. Pirrello three years from now. Paul would crush Sansones golden boy Perrello off honesty and integrity alone. Just drive by Pirellos house, he has ten trucks, two boats, and crap all over. He has been married around 5 times and doesn't own property in Ellisville. He lives at his girlfriends house. His neighbors think he is a sociopath. You idolize him. Birds of a feather. Reel and Paul are the only good ones on the board. Peeper and Perrello are bought and paid for, the others are just slow or dont give a crap.

There were always a large number of people who didn't trust Michelle Murray to continue to vote "No" on the TIF project. They told me she was dirty on the issue. I tend to take people at their word, so I was truly surprised when she flipped her vote and began voting "Yes."

They were right all along.

It was that mistrust of Murray ( I think the kiss of death for here was when Pirrello put one of her signs in his girlfriend's yard) and Paul's strident tone and willingness to fight for the voters that got him elected and will net him a second term if he wants it.

What I don't understand is why is there something called a 'vote' when 'a yes is required'? If a yes is required then that isn't a vote at all and it means that the zoning board has the power not the council no? And then we are told that if the proposal complies with city ordinances, the zoning board must approve the plan. So once more they don't have any say in the matter either.

So who does? And if the zoning board has to approve it and the council has to vote yes, that doesn't sound to me like a very effective government.

And why are dioxin studies being done only now? Like there was no probability of any dangerous chemical spills from three car dealership repair shops on the property and used cars parked 24/7 all over the property leaking who knows what into the ground through all the cracks in the asphalt.

I think that is the way it has been going for quite a while....and that is what some of the professional staff would like the P&Z members and the City Council to believe.

Dan Duffy who sits on P&Z attempted to clarify this at one of the P&Z meetings.

There is NO requirement that anyone on P&Z vote yes to anything...even if the developer or builder addresses the code issues through mitigation or whatever...

There is NO requirement that the City Council accept the recommendation of the P&Z Commission.

When property owners within 185 ft. of a project sign a formal protest petition (as they did with the Walmart) objecting to a positive recommendation by P&Z, the City Council must have a super-major of "Yeas" to accept the P&Z's positive recommendation.

The P&Z and CC mostly seem to go along to get along and are herded by the professional staff in the direction the staff wants...kind of like sheep.

There isn't much critical thinking going on.
