Guess New Rockwood School District Enrollment

Have fun by making a prediction about the new student enrollment figures for Rockwood School District. Districts typically do not consider enrollment "final" until the third week of September, but these preliminary figures are nice to know.

Timothy Rooney, Rockwood School District's chief financial and legislative officer, told Rockwood Board of Education directors at a recent board meeting the numbers were so preliminary, he had not had time to really analyze them.

Total student enrollment projected for ALL of Rockwood School District elementary schools is 9,104.

Total student enrollment projected for ALL of Rockwood's middle schools is 5,336.

Total student enrollment projected for ALL of Rockwood's high schools is 7,491.

However the numbers for total enrollment do not include students at the district's Individualized Learning Center Alternative High School in Eureka, nor students who may be enrolled in one-day Center for Creative Learning classes.

Rockwood's projected total overall for the 2012-2013 school year was 22,042 but the enrolled total is 22,104, for a difference of 62 students. Rooney is quick to point out that even since these preliminary numbers were captured, students are still being added to Rockwood schools from other districts, while others are transferring out of the district.

"In some cases, students for whom we haven't been notified they will not be attending a Rockwood school haven't arrived yet, and we don't know for sure whether they are absent or truly not coming back (to Rockwood)," he said.

Editor's Note:  Student enrollment numbers for the Rockwood School District are fluctuating, and these numbers presented are not likely to be the exact, official ones adopted later this month. They were provided by Rockwood officials as good indicators of final enrollment.
