Ellisville Dog Park Opens in Bluebird Park
The Ellisville Dog Park extends membership to canine lovers throughout St. Louis County.
With the autumn chill officially sinking in in St. Louis, the Ellisville Dog Park opened in Bluebird Park Oct. 27, celebrating with a Howl-oween Costume Contest.
Patch stopped by this week to take a peek at the park and caught five members already enjoying the area.
Ashley Conway of Ellisville was there with her dog Oscar. She said her favorite feature specifically was the foot-pump water fountain for the dogs.
Diane Pierce runs a dog rescue called Senior Dogs 4 Seniors. Pierce had two of her dogs with her to run around and play ball.
Pierce said she enjoyed the fact that, though she's a Wildwood resident, she could visit the park. Unlike other dog parks, such as the one in Chesterfield, any canine caregiver who is a resident of St. Louis County can become a member, not just of that particular city.
The Ellisville Dog Park Committee broke ground Sept. 8, raising $23,000 in about a year for phase one of the project. None of the funds are tax dollars.
Memberships cost $40 a year per dog and can be registered for at the Bluebird Park office, in exchange for a membership tag for the dog. Rabies vaccination paperwork is required at registration.
