Restaurant Review Round-Up: Faraci Pizza

See what local residents are saying about restaurants in Ballwin and Ellisville.

It's the firm opinion of the Restaurant Review Round-Up that there are few foods better than pizza. It's a versatile dish that can be hot and greasy or light and healthy or anywhere in between, so this week it's time to grab a slice at Faraci's in Ellisville.

A family owned joint that originally started in Fenton, the Faraci's have been serving up pizza since 1968. The brick-fired fare is made completely from scratch, including the dough.

The good: Family-owned atmosphere and a solid St. Louis style pizza for West County residents to call their own.

The bad: It's billing by some as the "best pizza place ever" lead to several case of over-inflated expectations by some reviewers.

The whereabouts: Located at 15430 Manchester Rd Ballwin, MO 63011. For more information, call 636-230-0000 or visit their website

From Yelp (3.5 avg/11 reviews):

Harry L. gave it 4/5 stars and said: "The pizza was delicious. It's not NY or CHI pizza. The crust was the right combination or crisp and chewy - thin to be sure. The ingredients were fresh. They hand-make the dough, hand-slice the sausage and make fresh tomato sauce I was told. The pizza was HOT when served. Bonus points there. Tasted like food out of the fridge - not out of a can or off a pallet."

Trish K. gave it 2/5 stars and said: "The meatballs were decent and the salad was ok. It was really oily and im not much for italian dressing. Here is where the two stars come in: The pizza was like a bright orange color and it just tasted weird. I'm sorry i know thats how alot of stl thin crust looks like but um it looked like a neon radiated orange."

Linda D. gave it 4/5 stars and said: "Definitely one of my favorite pizza places in St. Louis...too bad it is so far away from our house! I love the rectangle shape, perfectly crispy crust, and the sauce is super yummy. I've never had anything besides the pepperoni & green pepper (why mess with perfection?), so I'm not positive on other toppings, but the green pepper is always fresh and has the perfect crunch. The pepperoni also has a lot of flavor, unlike a lot of other pizza places, and they throw on a spice blend that perfects the pie."
