Retired Firefighter from Ballwin Among Active Workers Collecting Comp

Lou Salamone of Ballwin is among many former St. Louis firefighters who actively work while still receiving workers' compensation, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Lou Salamone of Ballwin was named by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch as one of many retired firefighters who continues to work while collecting workers' compensation.

Salamone, who organized the professional hunting group Suburban Bowhunters, previously worked as a St. Louis firefighter before retiring in 2007 due to a knee injury, the Post-Dispatch reported.

His company, which advertises itself as an entity dedicated to deer and animal population control, has sought contracts targeting deer around West St. Louis County, in part because of incidents related to deer in densely populated areas.

Despite working a job that involves physical activity such as walking and sometimes climbing in order to scale tree blinds, Salamone now collects more than $44,000 annually on a disability pension, the report said.

Chase man we might be related, good research done here you must have secretly taped me punching the time clock I have in my camo fanny pack as I got out of my car and walked 50 yards to my stand, scaled it and did calisthenics as I waited for some poor helpless deer to show up. Did you catch the part of me carrying the "carcass" out of the woods too ? My "job" and "actively working" tells me I should release my "tax records" to the public so they can see all the extra cash I'm raking in from my "physical activity" etc. etc. This stuff sells papers, I actually bought one for the first time in 16 months. If you are driving by my "work office" and you get t-boned, trapped in a burning vehicle should I use my "physical activity" to save you or should I just protect myself from injury ?
