I don't agree with the "legitimate rape" comment, but, the evidence is in: forcing religious organizations to pay for something that they (not only don't believe in, but) are directly against because of God, IS putting government in place of God. It's done. You can't argue it away anymore than Akin can. If that statement upsets you, either get upset at those who are DOING it (not just saying it), or prove it's not true. Since it is happening everywhere around you, unfortunately the proof will not support your point.
Just look at the Liberals (who want bigger government) bashing Christians on this very site. To anyone who is whining about Democrats crossing over and voting in the Republican primary -- so what? Regardless of party affiliation, voters get to choose in which in which primary they will cast their vote. Right or wrong, this is the law in the State of Missouri. Has he really lost all in-party support? I agree that he should've been more careful with his words and I am glad his apology was practiced but I don't think this is enough to make him "pull out" of the race. Elizabeth, I agree. We do lump everyone into the extremes. I liked hearing Scott Brown say yesterday he is "pro-choice" and that not all Republicans are like Akin. Hearing John Danforth, a Republican I respect as a man of principle, noted the same thing - that there are moderate Republicans out there. I don't think all Republicans are anti-women but I do think that the party has allowed itself to be taken over by the far, extreme right. Those moderate Republicans need to stand up and be heard.
