Ellisville Police Seek Possible Credit-Card Thief
The Ellisville Police Department announced early last week that a man was being sought in connection to a stolen credit card being used in Ballwin and Ellisville. For details on the card's use and a description of the suspect, check out the complete story.
Civics In Action at Ellisville Library
Staff for Democratic U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill were at the Daniel Boone Branch Library in Ellisville as part of the senator's "Kitchen Table Talks" series. Staff said the senator this summer has been touring manufacturers in Missouri, but that didn't stop voters from Ballwin and Ellisville from speaking up on a variety of federal issues to be relayed back to McCaskill.
Ballwin Alderman Ken Mellow Dies
Ballwin Alderman Ken Mellow died Saturday, Aug. 6 after a long battle with cancer, family said. A service was held Thursday at Holy Infant Church in Ballwin in Mellow's honor. On Saturday, Aug. 20, a remembrance gathering is scheduled at the Ballwin Golf Club. Due to Mellow's death, and the retirement of Ald. Ron Markland, the Ballwin Board of Aldermen bumped up its meeting to Monday, Aug. 15 in order to discuss possible replacements likely to be appointed by Mayor Tim Pogue.
'Spelling Bee' Joins Parkway's Theater Forces
Students from Ballwin and throughout Parkway schools teamed up for one of the first district-wide theater efforts this weekend with the musical comedy 'The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.' After its premiere at Parkway South High School, the production is scheduled to move to Parkway North next weekend.
SynCare Lays Off 29 Employees
The healthcare management company SynCare, which has its Missouri office based just east of Ballwin, announced Friday that it was temporarily laying off 29 employees. The company said the employees will be allowed to resume work on Sept. 30 or possibly sooner.
