Care for Caregivers is an educational share group that seeks to support parents of special needs children and caregivers of adults with physical and/or emotional difficulties. The challenge of caregivers is to maintain their own health and well-being while managing the ongoing responsibilities of meeting the special needs of a child or adult.
The group will study and hear a short lecture from The Caregiver Helpbook and then divide into two discussion groups. The parents of children with special needs will meet with Dawn Koontz, PhD, a psychologist in private practice. The caregivers of adults will meet with Shirley Schaper, ACSW, a clinical social worker in private practice.
