Ballwin Students Joins MU Honor Geography Honor Society

The Beta Xi chapter of Gamma Theta Upsilon requires a certain grade point average, and level of completed coursework to qualify.

Peter Thommesen, Ballwin, was inducted into the Beta Xi chapter of Gamma Theta Upsilon, an international geographic honor society at the University of Missouri. Members must have completed at least three geography courses, earn 3.3 GPAs and have completed at least three semesters of college coursework. The organization works to strengthen the study of geography. 

 “I enjoy studying geography because it uses a diverse set of academic disciplines to understand global trends and issues,” Thommesen said.

Thommesen is a sophomore pursuing bachelor’s degrees in geography and political science with a minor in economics. He is the son of Bjorn and Lore Thommesen. He participates in Geography Club, Political Science Club and the Economics Undergraduate Students’ Association. In addition, Thommesen plays in The House Guests, a local band.
