BRIEF: Gabbert Makes a Play for Joplin

Former Parkway West High School quarterback Blaine Gabbert of Ballwin, who now is en route to the Jacksonville Jaguars, is making a push for tornado relief.

Efforts to help those affected by last month’s tornadoes around Joplin aren’t limited to churches and charities, as Ballwinite and former star Blaine Gabbert joined a team of athletes nationwide this week with the goal of raising tornado relief funds.

Simply titled “Athletes for Tornado Victims,” the group has partnered with non-profit groups such as United Way, which will help facilitate the disbursal of funds raised through an auction for a VIP golf outing. The auction winner and a friend will get to play a round of golf with Gabbert at a course of their choice near St. Louis or Jacksonville, FL – the home of the Jacksonville Jaguars where Gabbert is scheduled to .

For more information on the auction and related fundraising efforts, visit the official Athletes for Tornado Victims Facebook page.
