Elks’ BBQ Gets OK in Ellisville

The Ellisville Elks Lodge is poised to stage their annual barbecue fundraiser early next month.

The Ellisville Elks’ will be bringing their barbecue back in town next month, when residents can enjoy sweet sauces and sides in the name of a good cause.

The Ellisville City Council this week approved the fundraiser for the first weekend of April, when the Elks will sell various types of barbecue and sides across from Best Buy on Manchester Road.

Elks officer Joe Wolf, 28, said proceeds will go toward a variety of causes, including specially assembled gift baskets for needy families.

“And once a year, we’ll truck them out to all the needy families in the area. It’s definitely a local thing,” Wolf said.

Previous BBQ fundraisers have had varying levels of success, but Wolf said planned changes to make the day more efficient should help reduce costs and make the weekend a greater overall success.

“We had a lot more expenses last year, so I think it was roughly $600 to $800,” Wolf said. “This year, we’re hoping we can raise more.”

The event is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, April 1–2, at 15677 Manchester Road.

“Of course, if we get a line at 7 (o’clock), we won’t shut down.”
