'Let's Move' Gets Loose at Parkway West High

Parkway West hosts a lively day of fitness as part of an initiative spearheaded by First Lady Michelle Obama.

Parkway West High School on Saturday hosted a range of fitness-based activities as part of a nationwide effort to get America's schoolchildren fit.

The event, which is being billed locally as part of "Shape Up Missouri," organized in support of the "Let's Move" initiative first introduced by First Lady Michelle Obama, which targets diet, exercise and health education in order to fight childhood obesity. Certain schools within the Rockwood School District also have into parts of their curriculum.

Parkway West's weekend fun included a 5K, a 1-mile family fun run, members of the St. Louis University men's soccer team, St. Louis Rams cheerleaders and a slew of activities to entice Ballwin-area youth to exercise more.
