Preview: Memorial Day Ceremonies in Ballwin & Ellisville

Get the times and places for Monday's ceremonies honoring the Americans who gave up their lives representing their country.

The following information comes courtesy of the City of Ballwin and the City of Ellisville:

• The Ballwin Historical Commission will once again host a Memorial Day Ceremony to honor those from our area who have given their lives in battle to preserve our freedom.  The ceremony will be held on Monday, May 28, 2012 at 11:15 a.m. at the Peace Memorial in Vlasis Park, adjacent to the on Park Drive. Ballwin VFW Post 6274 Honor Guard will participate in the ceremony.  

There is no charge for this event, and light refreshments will be served following the ceremony. Please bring a lawn chair and take part in recognizing those who have served our country. In case of rain, the ceremony will be held inside the Board Room of the at 300 Park Drive.

Members of the Ballwin Historical Commission will also be available to give tours of the Historic Log Home in Vlasis Park immediately following the ceremony.

All City of Ballwin governmental offices will be closed for observation of this holiday. City offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on May 29 for regular business.

• The City of Ellisville will hold their annual Memorial Day remembrance ceremony to honor the men and women who gave their lives while serving in the military.  The ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 28 at the Lafayette War Memorial in located at 225 Kiefer Creek Road. will be closed in observance of Memorial Day.
