Readers Comment on Crime, Becky’s Carpet & Tile Closing

This past week was a busy one in terms of news for the Ballwin-Ellisville Patch. As always, Patch strives to drive conversation among the readers of the local communities we cover.

• Last Monday of Ballwin, who teamed up with Kingdom Seeds Outreach, of Fenton, and local Walmart stores across the area to host a massive shoe drive. In response to Hutchings’ efforts, Patch reader , a small business owner, said, “George Hutchings is one amazing man! Keep it up, George!”

• We all heard of ’s sudden store closures in the St Louis area after decades in business. Shortly after closing, some . A Patch reader, who goes by the name of Leslie, said she also had communication problems regarding her carpet installation refund. “...before everyone pours out sympathy for poor Becky, let's see if she makes good on her "supposed" promise to refund the money to trusting customers like myself who wanted to support a local business,” Leslie wrote on our page. “It sure would have been nice if she would have at least rolled down the window and said she was sorry. I just wanted to know if I was going to get my carpet or a refund.”

• Police reported that the store in Ellisville was the scene of two thefts of clothing or accessories. “Always amazed that people would risk a police record that will follow them forever over a $40 item,” commented our reader Suzanne Gundlach on our Facebook page.
