The Cool Side of Social Media in Ballwin & Ellisville

Temperatures outside may be rising, though tempers around Ballwin have reached an unofficial "chill," at least according to Ballwin-Ellisville Patch's highly scientific social media.

Summer has all but officially arrived, and readers from Ellisville and Ballwin are happy to let it show.

As longtime fans of the site know, Ballwin-Ellisville Patch is help facilitate a bustling social media scene, which readers can tap into via our official Facebook page and our Twitter account.

For those of you just joining us, Twitter may be the best bet to keep loose tabs on some of the quirkier findings around Ellisville and Ballwin, while Facebook will keep readers up to date with photos, big stories and a platform to discuss the day's latest news in the cities you actually spend your time in. All of our articles also allow readers to comment, which is yet another way to let your voice be heard by the residents, police, mayors and more who all read this site.

To catch up on what you may have missed, check out these highlights from the last week:

• In response to a posting about Barney's Bar-B-Q, which  this weekend, Patrice Munden (an Ellisville resident who also  on Patch) helped spread the summer excitement: "Really good barbeque and right across the street from where I live--yayyyy!!"

• At Ellisville's last city council meeting,  the city's recently-approved relocation policy, which was aimed at compensating residents of an apartment complex expected to be demolished to make room for a Walmart Superstore, would not help those who moved in after January 1. Reader Linda Carnemolla Nebrig expressed her feelings on our Facebook page: "That is just making a totally wrong move even more wrong ... I am so disappointed in the City of Ellisville over the entire project and deeds that surround it."

• The end of the 2012 school year marked 10 years since  lost Josh Hookland, a  at the age of 10. Ballwin-Ellisville Patch reader  recalled the day the school's soccer field was memorialized in Josh's honor: "I remember the day we commemorated the field, everyone there was so sad for losing Josh. He'll always be a major part of Westridge."

• School may have ended, but good things have come in its place. Among them is the Ellisville Community Farmers Market, which  on Thursday. One reader noted, however, that one particular vendor will no longer be there, which elicited a response from the market masters themselves: "We will be updating the vendor list this weekend so check our webpage for changes. We miss The Cheese People as well. We have heard they are no longer in business. We are looking for another local cheese vendor and will keep you posted."
