A Life in Parts: A true story of an idyllic life, a devastating loss, and one woman's resolve to rise above it

by Vicki Bennington & Daniel Brannan

About the book:
On an ordinary winter day, Loretta Goebel was wrapping Christmas gifts in her basement when the doorbell rang. She rushed to answer the door, and in her haste, she hit her hand on the banister as she ran up the stairs. This seemingly innocuous injury eventually resulted in the amputation of both her legs, her left hand, and most of the fingers on her right hand.

While suffering through several rounds of amputations and painful prosthetic parts, she had to adapt to life without fingers or feet. Fiercely independent, she refused to succumb to life as an invalid. Even the simplest things seemed insurmountable at first, but with the support of her family and friends, she relearned how to do everything—from feeding and dressing herself to driving a car.

Her adjustment and recovery led to a friendship with Paul McCartney and Heather Mills, also an amputee. She helped Loretta find comfortable and attractive artificial legs that allowed her to regain her confidence and feel feminine again. Through all her pain and loss, Loretta never gave up, and her story of triumph is a testament to anyone who is struggling to adjust to difficult circumstances, whatever they may be.

The foreword to the book was written by Heather Mills, and both Sir Paul McCartney and Cindy Crawford gave back-cover endorsements.

I think Ellisville's Mayor Adam Paul HAS been reinstated UNLESS this is an appeal to a higher court.Read More The Ellisville council members Murray, Anglin, and Pieper, Acup, Perrillo and City Attorney Martin who pocketed $50K from Sansone to help get the deal done. On top of the $65K the City - us taxpayers - paid Attorney Martin to look after our interests. These members should be removed by petition vote by the people or the courts for conflict of interest. And if Ellisville Attorney Martin is reading this, you are there to PROTECT the City & Citizens of Ellisville ONLY, NOT give advice as how to ENTRAP Ellisville's duly elected mayor. You are NOT there to give legal advice to ANY COUNCIL MEMBER who is trying to entrap other elected officials. Ellisville needs a HOUSE SWEPT CLEAN of these council members Murray, Anglin, and Pieper, Acup, Perrillo and City Attorney Martin because of CONFLICTS OF INTERESTS AND accepting money from Sansone & Wal Mart agents.
