L.D. Whitaker, author of Geese to a Poor Market, grew up in the Missouri Ozarks and attended a two-room country school; managed to survive the sixties and seven years at the University of Missouri; and now lives with his wife, two standard poodles, and a rescued tomcat in Jefferson County, Missouri. On Missouri Tiger game days, they all wear black and gold.
The Ozark Writers’ League selected Geese to a Poor Market as the winner of the 2011 Best Book of the Year Award. Whitaker’s writing has appeared in Missouri Life, The Ozark Mountaineer and several anthologies and literary journals.
