Ellisville's Attorney Relieved Of Duties; Walmart TIF passes

Paul Martin said he was relieved of his duties by the City Council after leaving a closed council meeting at the end of a special session Wednesday night. The council also approved legislation authorizing TIF notes, a bill tied to a proposed Walmart.

Paul Martin was relieved of his duties as Ellisville's lawyer Wednesday night.

"I believe the council has relieved me of that pleasure," Martin said, in response to a question whether he was still the city's attorney after leaving a closed session of the city council. "I did not resign."

Martin will continue carrying out Ellisville city tasks he had already been assigned.

"I have ongoing obligations that I feel I need to fulfill," Martin said.

The closed session for personnel matters was requested at the end of the Ellisville City Council's special session Wednesday night, where the council approved an ordinance authorizing Tax Increment Financing notes be issued for RPA 1. RPA 1 includes the site of a controversial proposed Ellisville Walmart.

The legislation was first introduced at the city council's meeting last week, and received its second reading and approval Wednesday night in a 4-3 vote.

Council members Matt Pirrello, Linda Reel, Roze Acup and Cindy Pool voted to approve the bill, while Mayor Adam Paul and council members Gary Voss and Mick Cahill voted against it.
