Ballwin 'CVS' Makes It Official

The CVS Pharmacy at Clayton Avenue and Henry Road held a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday to celebrate its fall opening.

The West St. Louis County Chamber of Commerce welcomed one of their newest members Thursday with a ribbon-cutting at CVS Pharmacy at the intersection of Clayton Road and Henry Avenue in Ballwin.

Representatives from the chamber, CVS management and officials from the City of Ballwin all were in attendance.

Store manager Patrice Shelton said that while they would have liked to have hosted the ceremony closer to the store's September opening, cold weather delayed their schedule. That didn't detract from her satisfaction with the store, however, which is a return to roots for Shelton after living in Washington D.C.

“I opened this store and I am really proud of it,” Shelton said. “I moved here from Washington D.C. but I am originally from here so I am home."

The Ballwin store also will serve as the anchor for a small shopping center.

“CVS has been a member of the Chamber since they opened and we are proud to be here,” said Lori Kelling, President of the West County Chamber.

Other stores planned for the plaza still are under construction.

“This is an excellent use of what used to be a vacant corner,” said Tom Aiken, City Planner for Ballwin.

“I hope to make this store the best in the area,” Shelton said. “It's a great area and our customers are the best.”
