Ellisville Best Buy Announces Closing

The store closing planned at Ellisville's Best Buy comes just more than a year after Ulitmate Electronics in Ballwin permanently shuttered its doors.

Electronics retailer announced this week that the store will be permanently closing May 12 or sooner.

The announcement came roughly a month after news reports surfaced saying that Best Buy planned to close 50 locations nationwide. , store representatives at the Ellisville location said they were unable to provide any details about possible closures locally.

An email sent to customers this week said the store planned to be closed Saturday but would re-open Sunday morning, "for a sale of up to 20 percent on select, remaining merchandise." A media statement said employees at the stores slated to close were notified of those plans Saturday morning.

"We will be permanently closing the Ellisville Best Buy store on May 12, or when supplies run out, whichever is earlier," the email said.

According to a news release from the company, the Ellisville Best Buy store is the only one in Missouri slated for closure at this time. The news release announced the location of 42 stores that would close.
