New Firehouse Subs to Open in Ballwin Monday

This restaurant chain is famous for steaming premium meats and cheeses piled high atop toasted sub rolls and served "Fully Involved" with fresh produce. Metro West Fire Protection District donated some memorabilia as decorations.

Local franchisee Tom Pogemiller announced a Firehouse Subs eatery will open Monday at 14948 Manchester Road in Ballwin. This is his fourth Firehouse Subs restaurant.

Firehouse Subs favorites include the Hook & Ladder sandwich, with smoked turkey and Virginia honey ham smothered with Monterey Jack cheese and the New York Steamer, inspired by New York delicatessens, combining corned beef brisket and pastrami topped with melted provolone. All large specialty subs boast a half-pound of meat. Other top sellers include the Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket, Italian and Firehouse Meatball subs.

The restaurant features a Coca-Cola Freestyle fountain, offering 120-plus beverage brands via a touch-screen operated with regular and low-calorie beverage brands. Guests choose from numerous possibilities many never before marketed in the United States. Choices include brands, such as caffeine-free Diet Coke with Lime, Fanta Peach, Minute Maid Light Orange Lemonade and the top-selling non-carbonated fountain drink, Cherry Lime-Aid, an exclusive original recipe by Firehouse Subs, served with fresh squeezed lime.

Firehouse Subs, founded in Jacksonville, FL, by former firefighting brothers Chris and Robin Sorensen, is a 605-unit fast casual restaurant chain. In 2005, Firehouse Subs created the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation with the mission of providing funding, life-saving equipment, and educational opportunities to first-responders and public safety organizations. Through the non-profit, Firehouse Subs has given $5.7 million to hometown heroes in 36 states and Puerto Rico, including more than $100,400 in Missouri.

The authentic firehouse setting is based on the founding family’s decades of fire and police service, and the new location is decorated with local firefighter  donated by the Metro West Fire Protection.
