Remodeled Dairy Queen Drips with Warmth in Winter

Take a look at the completely refurbished Dairy Queen Grill & Chill on Clayton Road. Orange Julius shakes, WiFi and cushy seating are welcome new additions.

Although cold winter months are not the traditional time for ice cream-centric businesses to have their best sales, the owner of the Dairy Queen Grill & Chill at 15850 Clayton Road in Ellisville said customers strongly and steadily supported them during the recent renovation of the DQ location.

Jack Campbell has owned this Ellisville Dairy Queen for the past 17 years.

"We were very happy to remodel the entire store," he said, noting that the project took the past two and a half months.

Campbell said they offered a similar menu post-renovation, but with "a fresh look at food and beverages that are light and healthy." Those new options include protein shakes and Orange Julius smoothies, in fruit flavors such as mango and pina colada.

He said he hoped the new products will dovetail with the new zumba club going in behind the DQ building.

"Customers think the new look is great. They've been thanking us for updating it all," said Campbell.

"It's been a long time coming, and our customer count is up now. The cold, usually slow, time of the year was the right time to do a renovation for this type of business, but it actually and surprisingly worked out really good for our overall business."

Campbell said he and his staff stayed open during all the remodeling steps. "Everything is new, the wirings, floors, machinery. It was done by another Ellisville business, CCM Corporation. And we're happy about offering free WiFi."

Moolattes, and frozen coffee blends, add to the more office-like and meeting-friendly ambiance the new DQ interior provides.

Campbell said he hopes to host an open house and special offers in March or April.
