Restaurant Review Round-Up: Clancy's Irish Pub

See what restaurant goers are saying about establishments in Ballwin and Ellisville.

Editor's note: A previous version of the story mistakenly identified the location of Clancy's Irish Pub at the Barn.

The restaurant review round-up is throwing sophistication out the window and is in the mood for burgers and beer, so this week's stop is Clancy's Irish Pub at the Barn.

Nestled in Ballwin, many reviewers noted that the place has a great "pub feel" and a certain kind of ambiance. It's located at the restored historic Barn at Lucerne, an imposing Swiss-style building dating from 1916 that was one of the first large dairy barns in the county. It also doubles a butcher shop, so fresh-ground burgers and other meats are the specialties, along with enjoying a pint or two, inside or out.

Tim Pogue gave it 5/5 stars and said: "Congrats to Clancy's for being selected as having one of the best burgers in St. Louis by St. Louis Magazine. They desreve it!"

From Yelp (3.5 avg/6 reviews):

Keith U gave it 4/5 stars and said: "In Chesterfield on business travel, I wanted to get away from the chains near my hotel. Clancy's is in a cool historic building (Barn at Lucerne) and the pub fare was well above average. I came here twice in one week. The first time I had the bratwurst sandwich and the second time I had a burger. The burger was outstanding! Definitely not a frozen patty from Costco. Best restaurant burger I have had in a long time. The onion rings were unique and tasty, but hard to eat because they were all sort of fried together.

Jennifer B. gave it 3/5 stars and said: "We love the feel of clancy's, it's got that good traditional pub feel. The problem is every time we go the food has gotten worse and the service is hit or miss. This time their famous brisket sandwich got even smaller, there was maybe a single layer of meat, very disappointing. The au gratins that used to be a big square now consisted of 5 slices of potato (I kid you not) with about 2 tablespoons of cheese sauce on them."
