Restaurant Review Round-Up: Señor Pique

See what local residents are saying about restaurants in Ballwin and Ellisville.

The Restaurant Review Round-Up is craving the sizzle of fajiatas and heaping bowls of chips and salsa, so this week's entree is Señor Pique's in Ballwin.

The Mexican restaurant describes itself as family-owned and operated and specializing in authetic Mexican food and unique dishes. There's also a patio for taking a siesta with a margirata or two in warmer weather.

From Patch:

Angela gave it 4/5 stars: "Senor Pique's food is probably the best around. An upgrade from the usual Mexican fare. The chirizo queso dip is great. The fish tacos are great. The only problem I have is that the Margarita's are pretty weak!"

Karen Stevens gave it 2/5 stars: "Went there two times. One was for lunch and had chicken enchilladas that were not very hot (temperature-wise), and were also very bland. The service was terrible."

David Weihe gave it 5/5 stars: "We've only had one visit there so far this year but it was excellent. Place is well decorated, food was great and staff was attentive. I would and already have recommended it to friends. Looking forward to getting back there again soon!"

From Yelp (4.0 avg/41 reviews):

M J. gave it 4/5 stars: "Authentic Mexican food, not like El Maguey- not that I don't enjoy El Maguey or El Nopal, but Sr. Piqué food has more interesting flavor going on in their dishes than your typical Mexican restaurant. The tacos de camaron (shrimp tacos) are sooo good- tiger shrimp with black beans, avocado, and white cream sauce- and worth the $14 or so price."

Zach H gave it 2/5 stars: "So my parents love this place - they go there on a regular basis. It's definitely a good thing to have a decent Mexican place in this area of the county. My beef is with the beef. On two separate occasions I got a beef taco/fajita/burrito thing and the meat was VERY low quality."
