Restaurant Review Round-Up: The Wolf Public House

See what local residents are saying about restaurants in Ballwin and Ellisville.

With the weather cooling down, it's beginning to seem like a good time for a hot beverage, so the Restaurant Review Round-Up is checking in at coffe house/sandwich shop/music venue The Wolf Public House in Ballwin.

Artisan coffee, fresh sandwiches and craft beers are the highlights of the menu at The Wolf. It also features live music on most evenings in a rustic setting with a mountain lodge feel that sets it apart from other area coffehouses.

The good: Online reviewers praised it for being a weclome alternative to many West County options with a tasty menu and great live music.

From Patch:

Deborah Russell gave it 5/5 stars and said: "Recently "found" The Wolf which has quickly become our local favorite. We meet people for business and friends for dining and relaxing at The Wolf. Coffee is outstanding. Food is delicious. We've enjoyed an evening of music by Perron Hill with guitar and song, and we plan to invite friends to join us when they perform."

Alexandra gave it 5/5 stars and said: "Great place to go if you have kids! They are very accommodating and priced just right. The food there is extremely good which was surprising because coffee shops usually skimp on the quality of the food. I recommend this place to people all the time now. Great place!"

From Yelp (4.0 avg/24 reviews):

Rances M. gave it 4/5 stars and said: "As far as coffee houses and lunch shoppes go this place is excellent. Very friendly staff very fast service and an homey feel thats very enjoyable. Miles more pleasant experience than panera."

Bob W. gave it 4/5 stars and said: "Lone Wolf is a great alternative to the typical area food. Creative offerings and nice staff along with lots of locals makes LW a new favorite

Nancy B. gave it 1/5 stars and said: "I know this place has a lot of loyal customers who post reviews, but as some one who is new to the place, come prepared to wait.  This was some of the slowest service I have ever experienced."

From Urban Spoon:

GMF didn't like it and said: "I like the atmosphere and have always wanted to come in the evening for the live music and there decent selection of draft beer.BUT they need to put a little more effort on their menu. At first glance they have some interesting items, but it quickly changes when u get your food. My wife got a salad that was mixed greens with very sparse amounts of cheese, peers and nuts. My $9 sandwich was small and didn't measure up to the description on the menu. What a shame!"

MizzouLegend liked it and said: "I like the place, original enough menu without the same boring sandwiches most places offer. Good atmosphere and friendly service but we waited a long time for our meal to be served, 25 minutes on a Sunday afternoon and the place was not that crowded. At least the food was good when we did get it. I'd recommend it and also go back myself but hope they speed up the process."
