The Shoe Carnival store at 15870 Manchester Rd. in Ellisville closed permanently on Sunday so all the merchandise could be moved into the company's new store at 14858 Manchester Rd. in Ballwin. In addition, many new products were shipped in to fill the expanded space.

"We felt this was a better location for us," Shoe Carnival spokesperson Jessica Hass told Patch.

Lydia Spann, Shoe Carnival floor supervisor for the Ballwin store, said she and colleagues believe the new setup is great. "We have so much more room and so many more products. And we like having business neighbors on both sides of the us, too."

The Shoe Carnival team has planned a grand re-opening at the Ballwin location for Saturday. Starting at 9 a.m. at the new location, the first 100 customers to arrive will receive a $10 reward card to use toward anything in the store. Other special events during the day will include:

  • A drawing for free shoes for a year at 10 a.m.
  • A drawing for $1,000 cash, courtesy of Skechers, at 11 a.m.
  • Doorbuster deals from 9 a.m. to noon.
  • Prizes and giveaway all weekend long.

Spann, who has worked for Shoe Carnival for the past two years, said welcome additions at the Ballwin store also are handbags, the basketball hoop—where at shoppers might be challenged to earn more discounts by making shots—and JayJay, the Jet Plane, a motorized ride for toddlers for 50 cents each "flight."

Besides shoes, the Ballwin store carries socks, sandals, shoe shining kits, water proofer products, sneaker balls, shoe strings, orthotics and candy.

“We are excited to relocate into the Olde Town Plaza in Ballwin to bring our customers a new spacious and inviting Shoe Carnival shopping experience,” said Todd Beurman, senior vice president of marketing in a company news release.

Shoe Carnival sells name brand shoes, such as Nike, Converse, Sperry, New Balance and Reebok. Beurman said with the store's spontaneous environment and a staff empowered to surprise customers every day, Shoe Carnival makes family shoe shopping as fun as it should be.

Shoe Carnival, Inc. is one of the nation’s largest family footwear retailers, with 364 stores in 32 states and Puerto Rico, as well as online shopping.
