U-Gas Aims For September Opening In Ballwin

The convenience store will be located next to the new Wendy's on Manchester Road.

According to a company executive, work to build the U-Gas convenience store and gas station along Manchester Road on the former Rothman Furniture site should begin this week.

Perry Cheatham, the Chief Operations Officer for U-Gas told Patch that the company has plans for a 3 month construction schedule, which would put an opening near Labor Day in September if the weather holds up.

The roughly 4200 square foot facility would be the sixth locally to be done in the company's latest "concept", which includes gas, a full grocery, wine/beer offering, coffees and an automated car wash.

Cheatham said approximately 20 employees will be hired for the Ballwin location, about six weeks prior to the opening day. Interested candidates can go to www.4afunjob.com for more information.

A Wendy's restaurant opened on a neighboring lot on the site in January.
