Ballwin Losing Residents, Ellisville Population Nearly Flat
Both cities record growth for Asian, black populations, according to U.S. Census data released Thursday.
Ballwin's population decreased in the last decade by almost 900 residents, while Ellisville remained relatively stable, although U.S. Census data for both cities released Thursday reported minority population growth.
The census said Ballwin suffered a loss over the last 10 years of 879 residents, decreasing the city's official population to 30,404. Ellisville, by contrast, gained 29 residents, increasing the total population to 9,133.
The loss in Ballwin may not be as a dramatic as the numbers reported for St. Louis, which lost roughly 8 percent of its populaton over the last 10 years. The decrease does, however, represent a 2.8 percent loss for Ballwin, which may be more on par with St. Louis County, which lost 1.7 percent of its population over the same period.
