Baptist Faithful Cross Missouri to Mark Easter

Despite stormy skies, Missouri Baptist Church volunteers made their way down the length of Manchester Road on Friday for the last day of a 10-day walk across the state.

A group of Missouri Baptists observed this year's Easter celebration by joining together to carry an 80-pound wooden cross from Kansas City to St. Louis, including prayer stops in Ballwin.

The event was conceived as a way to encourage members of the church community to share their faith with others. The final leg of the 10-day prayer walk began early on the morning of Good Friday from the West County Community Church in Wildwood. After setting a pace that put them nearly an hour ahead of schedule, the walkers began making regular stops for prayer in Ballwin.

Despite a forecast of thunderstorms, participants in the walk expressed devout commitment to the completion of their journey, suggesting that difficult circumstances might give them an even greater opportunity to meditate on the suffering that Jesus experienced.  For the most part, precipitation was light and at times, the faithful walkers even enjoyed a little sunshine as they made their way along Manchester to their final destination at Tower Grove Baptist Church.
