Ellisville Drug Deal Results in Stabbing

Police said the victim in the incident was stabbed three times.

Two teenage residents of Ballwin and Ellisville face multiple charges related to a stabbing that occurred around midnight Wednesday evening following an attempt to purchase drugs.

Ballwin resident Dominique McCauley, 19, was charged with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and first-degree assault. His accomplice, 17 year-old Curtis Tate of Ellisville, was charged with first-degree robbery.

The charges stemmed from an incident in the 300 block of Carmel Woods Drive, where the two suspects met two other males, allegedly to purchase marijuana.

Police said the drug deal quickly went awry when one of the suspects pulled out a kitchen knife and announced the robbery. A fight ensued, police said, which reportedly resulted in McCauley stabbing an 18-year-old three times.

Police were told that the subjects fled the area with $500 and an unidentified amount of marijuana. Not wanting to call police, the stabbing victim was transported by a personal vehicle to an area hospital. During the drive, however, the driver encountered an ambulance, which was flagged down and used to transport the victim the remainder of the distance to the hospital.

Ellisville police were notified of the incident by hospital representatives at 12:47 a.m. Thursday.

Following an interview with the victim, Ellisville police identified both suspects and located them at another Ellisville residence. Both suspects were arrested without incident and taken to the where they were interviewed and booked.

Ellisville Police Sgt. Nancy Walker said Friday afternoon that both suspects were in the custody of St. Louis County Police and each being held on a $100,000 bond pending a grand jury hearing.

The victim is in stable condition, Walker said. Neither of the men who allegedly attempted to sell the drugs were charged.

“The police officers were not called at the time all this happened,” Walker said. “They were called later on when the subjects got to the hospital, and the doctor called because it was mandatory because of the stabbing… So they were not charged because we don’t have any evidence of the drugs.”
