Ellisville Veterans Day Ceremony to Include 'Chosin Reservoir' Survivor

A special ceremony honoring area veterans will take place Friday at Bluebird Park.

Retired Air Force First Sergeant Harry Hope is scheduled to deliver the keynote address Friday at the City of Ellisville's Veterans Day Ceremony.

Prior to joining the Air Force, Hope was part of the Battle of Chosin Reservoir with U.S. Marines in 1950. Described as one of the most well-known campaigns of the Korean War, Allied troops were greatly outnumbered during the assault on Chosin Reservoir, and despite their numbers and accompanying extreme cold, survived the intended-trap and inflicted massive enemy casualties.

Currently, Hope serves as chairman of the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight group.
