Floodwater Limits Access At Castlewood State Park

Another inch of rain could add to local water levels around the Ballwin and Ellisville areas Tuesday.

Much of Castlewood State Park in Ballwin remains easily accessible, but the area near the Meramec River could be closed off to vehicle traffic until at least the end of the week, due to rising floodwaters.

In a bit of irony, an area designated as "overflow parking" was itself overflowing with water Monday. Park officials have closed that area off to vehicle traffic since Saturday. A Patch reader shared photos of the flooding there over the weekend.

The portion of the park was still accessible by foot and by bike Monday, and Patch spotted several people stretching their legs, taking photos or taking a bike ride in the area despite the water.
