Steve Dolan, vice president of shipping for APL Emirates, was acquitted Tuesday of counts relating to a gun smuggling trial in Dubai, according to an STL Today report.
The story adds Dolan was facing up to 50 years in prison for ties he said his company "had nothing to do with" involving knock-off ammunition and guns found in a container screening switching ships in Dubai from Turkey to Djibouti.
Dolan is a graduate of Chaminade College Preparatory School in Creve Coeur and has family in Ballwin.
Dolan told STL Today the media attention "forced this decision rather quickly" after being trapped in Dubai since February. The report says Dolan could come home to the U.S. in 4-6 weeks.
