Week in Review: April 11 – 17

School budget cut talks, administrative moves, road work plans and a touch of local celebrity top off the past week's highlights.

The Rockwood School District is scheduled to host a "stakeholder" meeting this week to get public feedback about proposed budget cuts for the 2012-2013 school year. Board members will propose various solutions to deal with what's projected to be an $8 to $16 million shortfall for that school year, including a tax increase. The meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19 at in Ballwin.


Sidewalk along Kehrs Mill Road in Ballwin is scheduled to be laid down next year, with roughly 6,000 feet of total walkway to be laid down. Along with repaving Kehrs Mill, the total cost of the project is estimated around $1.35 million, approximately $1 million of which will be paid with . An informational meeting for homeowners affected by the project is informally scheduled for later this spring.

Some newlyweds may have been inclined to spend newfound cash in a fun-filed flash of vacation and travel plans. Amy Evans decided that the cash she won last week on "Wheel of Fortune" would be best used in savings, at least for the time being. Read more about Evans' big win above.


Tim McCarthy, an assistant principal at , will take over as principal at High School in Chesterfield beginning in July. McCarthy will replace Tim Gannon, who plans to retire at the end of the school year.
