Week In Review: April 4 – 10

The arts, athletics and election action swooped into Ballwin and Ellisville this week.

It was a busy week around Ballwin and Ellisville. The elections introduced a new member to the Ballwin city council, artists came from all over to display their work in Ballwin and more. To get quickly caught up with this week's news, read below and tell us what you think.

Former Ballwin resident Jacquelyn M. Hurst, 18, died in a car crash in Kirksville, MO last week. Hurst was a graduate of Parkway South High School, and was a student at Truman State University when the accident occurred.

The Kirkwood Farmers Market resumed this weekend, and Ballwin-Ellisville Patch helped introduce the outdoor-market season. Health and Fitness writer Dawn Runge presented not only a look at some of the best places for organic food around town, but also some alternative options for eating well.

Ballwin Mayor Tim Pogue secured his second term in office on Tuesday with an overwhelming majority of votes cast, despite an eleventh-hour rally by write-in candidate Charles McCloskey. Mark Harder will be the Ballwin board's only new addition after . Ellisville voters, too, made a dent in the polls and approved a half-percent sales tax increase slated to.

The Parkway West High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team opened big with a 3 – 0 win Friday while hosting the 2011 St. Louis College Soccer Showcase. The games may only have been friendlies, but that didn't leave the longhorns flatfooted going into Day 2, when they beat Fort Zumwalt North on Saturday, 2 – 1.
