State Sen. Jane Cunningham, a Republican from Chesterfield, may be able to help the Ballwin Board of Aldermen settle a dispute about two of its chair-holders. Complaints from multiple parties have been levied in recent months against Aldermen James Terbrock and James Leahy, who both owed taxes to St. Louis County at the time of filing for candidacy prior to the April municipal elections – an action that may have run contrary to affidavits signed as part of the candidate declaration process.

Cunningham said at the board's last meeting that she would ask staffers in her Jefferson City office to help expedite a response from the Secretary of State's Office – the latest department the Ballwin board has appealed to for clarification on candidate requirements and enforcement procedure.


Tragedy hit Castlewood State Park in Ballwin on Tuesday when two men who police said were in their early 20s died in a swimming accident in the Meramec River. Police said the two men were from St. Louis and travelled to the swimming spot with two other co-workers when two of the four swimmers disappeared. Both men's bodies were recovered hours later.

About 3,600 post office branches across the United States are being reviewed for possible closure, but the branch in Ballwin will not be affected, USPS workers reported last week. The decision to review shutting down other branches comes as the department deals with decreasing overall revenues and increase in usage at alternative locations such as grocery stores, drug stores, office supply stores, retail chains, self-service kiosks, ATMs and usps.com.


On the tails of several reports in previous weeks regarding thefts from vehicles and other crimes, the Ballwin Police Department submitted a letter to Ballwin-Ellisville Patch advising residents to take various precautions in order to prevent similar crimes from occurring again.

The owners of a new gym under the 'Little Gym' franchise said they hope to have a new store location up and running in Ellisville by late August. Owner Joel Johnson said he and his wife Leslie had hoped to operate a Little Gym since they first were exposed to one in Kent, Washington, where Leslie previously worked.
