Why Was Ellisville's Planning and Zoning Meeting Postponed?

The city says it was a matter of signage.

An Ellisville city official tells Patch that the reason for the delay in a public hearing for a moratorium on development near the approved Walmart plat all boils down to signage.

Ellisville's Planning and Zoning Commission was to hold a public hearing on a new moratorium on a neighboring plat Wednesday night but called off the meeting midday Wednesday citing a lack of legal notice.

The meeting was advertised in local media as required by law. The problem was that there was no signage placed on the impacted property.

A previous moratorium on development of the property, adjacent to the plat approved for a new Walmart, has expired.

The city confirms that there is new interest in developing portions of the property, but as Patch previously reported, city officials have determined that it "would be detrimental to the development of a town center."Β

The public hearing will now be held June 12.
