Community Christian Church (Manchester) Maundy Thursday Service

Community Christian Church in Manchester will be offering a special service on Maundy Thursday (April 17), beginning at 7:30 p.m.  This event will provide a live re-enactment of the Last Supper, culminating in a depiction of Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous masterpiece.  All are invited to this special and inspirational evening.

The evening will begin with a narrative setting the stage for the Passover tradition that Jesus and his disciples were honoring.  In addition, background about each disciple is shared as well as information concerning how that person fit into the operation of the team that followed Jesus.

Events and actions of that evening plucked from the gospels are performed, bringing the story to life.  And, a special scene greets those in attendance as they silently leave the sanctuary.

The week between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday is considered one of the most holy of times in the Christian faith.  Many churches offer various events during this time to commemorate what is called “The Greatest Story Ever Told”.  And, with this Maundy Thursday service, Community Christian Church encourages community members to be an active part of this holy time.

The church also invites all to finish the story during Easter Sunday services, with a traditional service at 8:30 a.m. and a contemporary service at 10:45 a.m.
