Garage sale to help St Louis homeless

On Nov. 9th I will be having a garage sale at my house, and invite you to bring things to sell, or come and help us get it set up and priced. Our hope is to make enough money to do something for the people in north St. Louis who are in critical need, especially during the pending cold nights and winter.
 Most of the 1400 homeless have no electricity,nor running water,many share an inadequate house with several families. Some go to a city shelter at night but have to leave in the early morning and can't return until 5 P.M. They come to Peace Park where Otis and other volunteers provide whatever food there is for them for lunch. Usually this is a cold can of ravioli or spaghettios with a pop top lid.Then there are some who have a house, who are elderly and/or infirmed; Otis,77 years old and recovering from cancer, prepares evening food for them and delivers it in his golf cart.
Our hope for this garage sale is to be able to help with something permanent; Otis will let us know what that is. Perhaps a drinking fountain, perhaps electricity so they can heat their ravioli in an electric coffee pot using the hot water to heat the can.Maybe a roof over one of the picnic tables for protection from the rain and snow.

Please bring donations to my house at 853 Crescent Ridge Dr.Put them on my front porch and regularly I will have them brought into my house and garage.Clothing will go directly to Otis, please put clothes in plastic bags separately.Include underwear, all sizes.
If you cannot donate, or cannot shop, please  mail a dollar to Otis for a can of ravioli with pop top lids so somebody will be able to eat lunch one day.You will not go on a mailing list.
