Lance Berkman's Injury

Lance Berkman's torn ligament

I had finally learned this afternoon that Lance Berkman will be out for six to eight weeks due to a severely torn meniscus and torn cartilage in his right knee. Lance is scheduled to have surgery soon in Vail, Colorado. At least we do know that it is not a season ending injury. Monday's examination found damaged cartilage as well as meniscus shredded on both the inside and outside of Berkman's knee. Berkman has already underwent an ACL repair on the knee in 2006 and was aware of a sliding sensation within the joint well before it gave out during Saturday's second inning. He also acknowledged discovery of torn meniscus during a February team physical. Currently if there is any procedure involving the ACL will mean his loss for the rest of the season, in which Lance wants to avoid. I wish the best for Lance and I hope for a fast recovery.
