Old Cardinal Returns to the Nest

Jim Edmonds has a new job with the St. Louis Cardinals, and Ballwin-Ellisville Patch blogger Joseph McBrayer is happy to have him back.

The last time we saw Jim Edmonds on the St. Louis Cardinals' practice field was back in 2007 when he was traded to the San Diego Padres for David Freese. Jim also made a brief appearance when he signed with the Cardinals February of 2011, but soon after retired due to a injury to his Achilles tendon.

Wednesday, he made his return to the Cardinals. There has been a strong speculation that he will be joining the Cards once again, but as a right hand man to General Manager John Mozeliak; Mozeliak indicated in an interview that he is leaving it open to what Jim Edmonds is comfortable with.

If he enjoys working on field with the outfielders instead of an office environment then that would be his job. Edmonds, 41, does enjoy being back and being a part of the World Series Champs. Personally, I love having him back with the Birds on Bat. His hands-on experience gives an advantage to his skills.

I am hoping to see our center fielder Jon Jay making Jim Edmonds like flying catches. Welcome back, Jim Edmonds!
