Congresswoman Wagner Honors 2nd Congressional District Art Competitors

2nd Congressional District Art Competition Winners Announced

Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) hosted the 2nd Congressional District Art Competition Reception Saturday morning in the lobby of her District office. Fifty five entries from high school students representing seventeen high schools across the district were on display at the reception.  “I am so impressed by the quality of the work these talented students submitted” said Congresswoman Wagner before she announced the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. “Art brings people together across communities and cultures. Art has the power to bridge divides and these students have demonstrated a true gift."

The 1st place winner is Lindsey Weinrich from Eureka High School.  Her piece "Working Man" will hang in the U.S. Capitol for 1 year representing MO's 2nd District. The 2nd place winner is Minjoo Kim from Westminster Christian Academy.  Her drawing "Corn" will hang in Congresswoman Wagner’s Washington office for 1 year. The 3rd place winner is Steven Coplin from Lindbergh High School.  His "Untitled Diptych" will hang here in the District office for 1 year.

The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for
members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their
young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nation-wide competition.  The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students in the district.
