A man from the Ballwin area is being charged with felonious restraint and third-degree assault stemming from an incident Friday in Mehlville.

According to a St. Louis County Police report, Matthew A. Carta, 31, of the 700 block of Overlook Circle in Valley Park, assaulted a woman, choking her and preventing her from getting away.

The victim was visiting with Carta in the 2600 block of Park Hill in Mehlville, when he refused to allow her to leave. He started choking her and tried to force her into another room, the police report said. The woman eventually unlocked the door and fled.

Bond was set at $20,000.

One could almost assume from the picture of the perp that he didn't come away unscathed in this encounter. BTW, shouldn't it read "The woman escaped by unlocking the door & fleeing" in the next to last sentence in the article?

You're right. Thanks for helping clarify, Dennis.

The police beat the shit out of me and smashed my face through two layers of a wall in my living room. When I was in jail a friend stole my cat and gave her away.

He is not a "perp". Where do you get such language?

Matthew, do you think putting a comment on here is going to get you sympathy? You deserved more than just a little beating and losing your cat, so you get absolutely no sympathy.
